What’s in a name?

As legend has it, the steeplechase originated in 18th century Ireland as a horse race among gentlemen stretching from one village’s church across the countryside to a nearby village’s church.  As the church steeples were visible, they marked the start and finish lines, hence the name.  Horse and rider would encounter natural obstacles such as rock walls and streams while traversing the countryside.  The nature of the race required participants to measure risk and act decisively as they advanced toward their goal.

Our name symbolizes that we are willing participants in a competitive industry.  We approach the real estate business not as a sprint across flat ground, but as a longer endeavor that requires sportsmanship and stamina.  Our name reminds us that there will be obstacles requiring us to analyze risk reward scenarios as they unfold in real time.  We concentrate on the details but also keep our focus ahead to continually survey the landscape and chart the best course forward.  While the race is exciting, ultimately, the most important thing is to start and finish it at the steeple.  Our name reminds us to remain true to our faith-based values and do our best to honor God in how we run the race.
